– Entrusted power abuse to the dishonest power holder who empties its inner values to inflate its own ego –
This sculpture, titled “Corruption,” captures the insidious nature of decay that lurks within systems and structures, both seen and unseen. The thick, hardened shell represents the layers of defenses, denials, and justifications that encase and protect wrongdoing. Beneath this armored surface, corruption festers like a rot, consuming integrity from within while presenting a polished facade to the world.
The spider-like legs jutting out from the dense, textured body suggest the creeping, pervasive reach of corruption, stretching into every corner of society. With each leg anchored firmly, it implies a hold that is both firm and difficult to dislodge. The richly textured, organic surface speaks to the allure of power that draws individuals into its grasp, while the dark, gleaming sheen suggests the danger and foreboding that lie beneath the surface.
The sculpture confronts us with the stark reality of corruption’s weight and influence—slowly, relentlessly draining the life from anything it touches, building a fortress of self-preservation that shields it from exposure or reform. It is a haunting reminder of the battles that must be waged not only in public but within each institution, as the creeping tendrils of corruption threaten to undermine the very foundations we rely upon.
